Remote Starters - Petra Blog

Some parts of the country have already had blizzard conditions and by now most have seen heavy frost and a hard freeze.

If any of your customers are like me, they hate the prospect of going out and scraping frost from the windows of their vehicle and when finished with that task, sitting down on a frigid seat and grabbing a hold of an icy steering wheel. This is an opportunity to be your customer’s superhero. Save the day by stocking remote start options and defeat evil frostbite as Remote Start Man.

On a cold and miserable winter day (or worse – night) a remote start for your customer’s car, truck or SUV can be a real blessing! From the comfort of their home or workplace, your customers can start their vehicle and in a few minutes enter a cozy cocoon of warmth with frost-free windows. As a testament to their popularity, remote starts actually come factory installed on many vehicles today, but there is still a terrific opportunity for big profits in aftermarket sales for the many vehicles that don’t include this great feature.

A wide variety of remote start options are available with diverse feature sets at price points to fit nearly every budget. Most basic remote starts give a visual notification, like a parking light flash, and feature keyless entry and remote trunk release with the engine start on the key fob. Another standard feature will stop the engine after a programmed length of time if the standard ignition is not engaged, so owners aren’t likely to run out of gas if they forget the car is running.

The top-of-the-line units like the Python PS3000 are operated through smartphone apps and offer control of standard remote start features.  They also interact with optional modules like GPS tracking, SmartSchedule, vehicle status, roadside assistance, parked car finder and more.

Other remote starts integrate with anti-theft alarm systems and include features such as remote valet, turbo (fast warm-up,) PIN touchpad, digital clock, interior temperature check, driver paging, panic siren, anti-hijack and animated displays from a full-color LCD remote.

While some remote starts bill themselves as DIY systems, you’ll certainly want to offer installation services for the additional revenue and complete customer service experience.

Oh…you say? Your business is in Florida, Southern California, Texas or another warm weather location where scraping frost isn’t an issue? Instead, there are those days when the oven that is your customer’s car burns the flesh on the back of their thighs as they settle into the seat while their fingers are welded to the blazing hot steering wheel. But never fear, you as Remote Start Man can save these customers from the evil of heat as well by selling them a remote start to turn on their vehicle to pre-cool the interior that has its A/C set to on.

Though many think the beginning of cold weather as remote start season, if positioned correctly remote starts can be a year round profit center for your store. See the all here.
