Spring is the season of new life, fresh air, and exciting opportunities. It’s also the ideal time to freshen up your store and space and give things a fresh coat of paint—literally! So, to help out, we’ve put together this store cleaning checklist.
What can you do to bring Spring cleaning to your store?
What should your priorities be?
Find out with our spring-cleaning checklist!
The holidays are crazy times, and your stockroom still probably hasn’t recovered from its post-Christmas state.
Spring is an opportune time to get back there and get things in order. Take inventory, organize your warehouse/stock room, and take of any clearance items you have left.
What about your store’s layout? Are there awkward spaces that could use some reconnoitering? Do certain aisles overcrowd easily?
Consider making some adjustments based on your observations.
And organizing your store isn’t simply limited to your physical space.
Are your records organized? Can you find important information easily on your computer or phone?
Now is a good time to make that you’re cleaning and organizing your digital records as well.
This one is something of a given, but bears mentioning nonetheless!
Clean your store!
Give your aisles a good once over and ensure that each is clean and sleek. Check your lighting fixtures and make sure each is working properly and has working bulbs.
Do you have carpet? Consider hiring professional carpet cleaners. Tile? Consider waxing. No matter your flooring, pro cleaning can go a long way.
Make sure that your smoke and/or carbon monoxide detectors have fresh batteries.
Also, take this time to ensure your storefront is fresh and exciting, and draws customers in. If you have the space, setup some aisle displays or a window display to promote exciting new seasonal items or thematic campaign pushes (St. Patrick’s Day, Spring Break, etc.)
Finally, making sure both your hardware and software is up to date can be critical to not just your spring-cleaning itinerary, but to your continued success as well.
Is your current software easy for your customers and employees to navigate? Is it user intuitive? These are questions to consider while giving it a good once over.
Are you still using computers or registers from the 00s? Now is probably a good time to upgrade, if you can afford the investment.
Whether you decide to tackle only a few things on this store cleaning checklist or all of them, even a little bit of focus in one area can go a long way in decluttering your store.
