Joyce Chen was born in Beijing in 1917 and came to America in 1949, where her Chinese cooking was in high demand. She broke the mold of what was commonly eaten in the 1960s and patented and marketed the flat bottom wok with a handle, the start of Joyce Chen cooking products. While Joyce Chen the cook may not be with us anymore, her family carries on her name and love of sharing Chinese cuisine with America.
