Petra Industries, a leading national wholesale distributor of consumer electronics, custom installation products, mobile audio/video accessories and appliance connection supplies, announced today that its Snowballs for Families annual event generated donations of hundreds of gifts from Petra employees in addition to a monetary donation in excess of $7,600 for Oklahoma City-based, Mother to Mother Ministry.

Every December, Petra teams up with the Mother to Mother Ministry to “adopt” families in need. The families submit their needs and wishes to Petra, and Petra employees join together to purchase gifts for each family member. This year, Petra was able to provide gifts for a total of six families in need. Petra volunteers wrapped and delivered the gifts to Mother to Mother Ministry just in time for their holiday festivities.

“I am in awe at the generosity of Petra employees who fulfill Christmas wish lists of families in the Mother to Mother program each year,” said Riz White, Executive Director of Mother to Mother Ministry. “Petra has also contributed a significant percentage of our annual budget which has helped make an impact on single mothers transitioning out of poverty. Many of the at-risk single mothers who join our program are able to find better coping skills, a support system and resource center that they normally would not receive. It is due to the support of donors such as Petra that we are able to keep our doors open during this economic downturn as we celebrate 20 years in Oklahoma.”

Petra’s manufacturing partners also help support Petra’s charitable efforts each year by providing prizes for Petra’s Annual Snowball Raffle. All Snowball Raffle ticket sales are matched dollar for dollar by Bill Stewart, President and CEO, and all proceeds are donated directly to Mother to Mother Ministry to support their program. This year, Petra’s employee contributions exceeded last year’s amount by over $1,100.

“I am so proud of the compassionate spirit that runs through the Petra family,” said Bill Stewart, President and CEO. “Every family deserves to have a joyful holiday, and I am always impressed with the ability of Petra’s employees to contribute their time, money and efforts to make a positive impact. We are so blessed to have the resources to make these families’ lives a little easier during the holidays.”

About Mother to Mother Ministry

Mother to Mother Ministry started in 1988 by a group of women in Church Women United who saw a need to serve single women in the community. It is the intent of the Mother to Mother Ministry to bring together, through friendship and shared experiences, people who are divided by social and economic conditions, so that all may be united in God’s Spirit. The long-term goal is to break the poverty cycle for women and their children by partnering a mother with limited resources with “support mothers” or mentors. Through this kind of intentional friendship, the at-risk mother has the support to help improve her family’s situation.
