So, at the midpoint of 2020, what are some of the biggest tech trends to look out for and consider? In this article from [Forbes](https://www.forbes.com/sites/bernardmarr/2019/09/30/the-7-biggest-technology-trends-in-2020-everyone-must-get-ready-for-now/#434e7b5c2261), it is said that some of the biggest tech trends will be AI-as-a-service, Autonomous Driving, Computer Vision, and Extended Reality. ## **AI** What is AI? In short, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the computer ability to perform as a human would. AI can process tasks, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. Some of the processes already in use today would be Siri, Alexa, Tesla vehicles, Pandora, Netflix, and Amazon to name a few. These platforms use AI to curate feeds based on what the human would like, and it will only get more accurate with time, go AI! Many consumers who are adopting smart home technology are beginning to shop in new ways via smart devices. Many retailers and businesses need to consider this so that they stay relevant in a shifting world. ## **Autonomous Driving** These cars aren’t the DeLorean, but they do look futuristic. The Tesla Model 3, S, and X, Cadillac CT6, and the Kia Telluride / Hyundai Palisade, Sonata are the furthest ahead with cars that have autonomous driving. Also known as autonomous or “driverless” cars, they combine sensors and software to control, navigate, and drive the vehicle.” Most cars are in stage 1 of autonomous driving but it won’t be long before someone takes the wheel and steps on the gas. ## **Computer Vision** We’ve come a long way since printing out road trip maps from MapQuest and downloading music onto our iPods. With the advancements of computer vision, it will be able to interpret how we see the world. “In computer terms, “vision” involves systems that are able to identify items, places, objects or people from visual images – those collected by a camera or sensor.” Advancing with computer vison can provide additional research possibilities while also reshaping how surveillance is handled.  ## **Extended Reality** While video games and interactive experiences have seen a rise, it is likely to expect advancement in extended reality. According to [Forbes](https://www.forbes.com/sites/bernardmarr/2019/08/12/what-is-extended-reality-technology-a-simple-explanation-for-anyone/#413be4c77249), “XR is an emerging umbrella term for all the immersive technologies. The ones we already have today—augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) plus those that are still to be created. All immersive technologies extend the reality we experience by either blending the virtual and “real” worlds or by creating a fully immersive experience. Recent research revealed that more than 60% of respondents believed XR will be mainstream in the next five years. To get a better picture of XR, let’s review each of the existing technologies that exist today.” ## Staying Connected Technology is within any persons reach today.
